CHARACTERISTICS:

Medium-size, short-haired, yellow gundog of elegant appearance. It is rather lightly than heavily built, reflecting a har mony of beauty and strength. Balanced, intelligent, with vivid temperament. History writers consider the Pannion hound as one of the ancestors of the Vizsla. The yellow gundog of the Turks also played a significant role in the development of the breed. Some writers, however, date back it's first appereance to several years earlier. Latest researches indicate that the 'Sloughi' was among the common ancestors. The first present-form specimens of the breed appeared in the early18th century. In conformity with the modernisation of hunting habits in the 19th century, other gundogs had been
used in their improvement and finally there emerged a separate yellow national dog. The breed recovered after the war to develop into it's present form, characterised by the following:
It's trained easily and quickly. It's character does not tolerate rough treatment. Inherited qualities, excellent memory and good reasoning power, make it the gundog of modern timers. In spite of it's great passion for hunting, it likes house keeping as well. Because of this, and also because of it's distinguished manner, many people keep it as a companion dog. It's widely known for it's excellent ability for acclimatisation and is an untiring worker, even in immense heat. Out of it's inherited traits, the following are deemed necessary: excellent scenting powers; staunch, figurative pointing; distinct trailling and retrieving qualities, love of water-work and excellent response to handling.

Measuring the straight line linking the tip of the nose and the inner corners of the eyes, the foreface is always less than 50 percent of the total length. of the head. The fang is proportionately long, the jaw is well-developed, well-muscled. The teeth are powerful, the incisors close like scissors. The expressions is vivid, intelligent, the eyes are slightly oval. 4 cm deviation from the above is permitted in either way, if it does not disturb harmony. Static and dynamic balance, as well as summetry, are considered much more important than proportions measured in centimetres.

TYPE FAULTS:

All those structural faults or significant defects that disadvantageously influence the harmony of movement and continuous work.
